The Stanbic Bank Kenya PMI climbed to 50.9 in November 2024, up from 50.4 in October, signaling sustained private sector expansion. It marked the second consecutive month of growth and the highest reading since May, driven by improved output and new orders amid stable employment levels. New orders grew the most in six months, while output growth accelerated, surpassing the series average. Consequently, purchasing activity rose solidly, registering its quickest pace since September 2022. Employment increased for the second month in a row, though job creation was softer than in October, as backlogs of work continued to rise. Supplier delivery times shortened slightly, reflecting strong competition among vendors. On prices, input cost inflation reached a three-month high due to higher taxes on purchased items. In response, output cost inflation climbed to a nine-month high, supported by strengthening customer demand. Finally, business sentiment weakened slightly.
