Nigeria's inflation rate rose for the third straight month in November 2024, soaring to a near 30-year high of 34.6%, up from 33.9% in the prior month. Food inflation surged to 39.93% in November, a sharp increase from 32.84% in November 2023, mainly due to higher prices of staple foods, including yams, water yams, cocoyams, guinea corn, maize, rice, beer, and vegetable oil. The core inflation, which excludes the prices of volatile agricultural products and energy quickened to a fresh all-time high of 28.75% in November, up from 28.37% in the previous month. On a monthly basis, the CPI index rose by 2.64% in November 2024, the same pace as in the prior month.
