The annual inflation rate in Botswana edged up to 1.7% in November 2024 from 1.6% in the previous month. The uptick was mainly driven by rising costs for recreation & culture (2.3% vs 1.4% in October), clothing & footwear (3.9% vs 3.8%), alcoholic beverages & tobacco (5.9% vs 5.8%), and health (2.5% vs 2.3%). Meanwhile, prices softened for food & non-alcoholic beverages (4.8% vs 5.2%), furnishing, household equipment, and maintenance (1.9% vs 2.2%), and miscellaneous goods & services (7.6% vs 7.7%). Transport costs also dropped, though at a softer rate (-2.2% vs -3%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose by 0.1% in November, following a 0.2% increase in October.
