On the other hand, the primary income surplus narrowed to HKD 87.2 billion from HKD 97.7 billion last year, and the secondary income gap increased to HKD 5.1 billion from HKD 4.3 billion.

The annual inflation rate in Hong Kong stood at 1.4% in November 2024, unchanged from the previous month and remaining at its lowest reading since May. Costs moderated for housing (0.9% vs 1% in October), transport (1.3% vs 1.6%), alcoholic drinks and tobacco (21.2% vs 21.8%), and miscellaneous goods (0.8% vs 1.6%). Additionally, deflation continued for clothing and footwear (-2.4% vs -1.4%). Meanwhile, prices increased at a faster pace for food (1% vs 0.9%), electricity, gas, and water (9.8% vs 8.5%), and miscellaneous services (2% vs 1.9%). Moreover, deflation eased for durable goods (-0.3% vs -0.7%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices stalled in November 2024 from 0.2% in the preceding month.

(-3.0%), and Innovent Biologics (-2.2%). In contrast, Semicon Manufacturing surged over 8%, after the US asked Nvidia to investigate how its products ended up in China over the past year. Tencent Holdings Ltd. climbed 2.7%, after launching a new gifting feature on its WeChat platform.
